Social business is moving ahead.
And we are very happy about two interesting inputs and some remarkable ideas from Spain.
Here is the first input:
Maria Victoria Angulo, Margarita Gratacós, Ester Domènech and Antònia Febrer (THANK YOU ALL) had a social business brainstorming session in Barcelona and just sent us their ideas to share them with you:
Sitges is know around Spain and Europe to receive an important gay community. Then, this place attracts diferent people from around. This is a place where everyone has his place and where diversity is an added value in pro of civic-mindedness and creativity.

BASIC IDEAS

Game theory: win to win // Life long learning.
MAIN GOAL
We hope to increase happiness and quality of life of diferent groups of people: elderly, ill, schoolars and travellers.
Elderly: we pretend to offer a possibility to contribute in a flexible way to an economic activity that will provide them: satisfaction, incomes, knowledge and learning. They will be able to offer what they are able to do in the amount of time they wanted to share.
Ill, schoolars and travellers: are the potential consumers that, at the same price, will have the option of a taste, nutritionally balanced and ecological menu.
There is also another goal: balance between tradition and science. We can put working together nutritionists and cooks, agricultural engineers with farmers.
Insatisfaction source: Why hospitals gives such a horrible food? Why menus in schools are not balanced and ecological? Why aerports doesn't look for customers satisfaction?
On the other hand, why elderly doesn't have any possibility to be useful in occident economies? They just wake up in the morning, early in the morning with a huge feeling of solitude and no one waiting for them. Moreover, mothers who have worked for their whole life growing their children, feeting and taking care of them have to spend their valued time without any contribution to themselves and others.
There is an important matching in occidental economies to try to cover the expressed insatisfaction sources with all that time bank waiting to be useful.
STRATEGY
Human Resources Cooperative
1.- Human Resources: low and high skilled, elder and young join their capabilities to build a project where tradition, technology and science work together.
2.- Capital: we will try to capture it from the cooperative members and other individuals who want to contribute. Afterwards, if necessary, we will have the possibility to apply for public start up subsidies or, finally, to privat financing firms. In addition, land to grow vegetables and fruits will be provided voluntarily by the cooperative members.
All resources, human and capital, will be paid according to their contribution.
Defining the whole cycle, from the land to the table, as follows:
1.- Growing localy seasonal fruits and vegetables joinly with ranching and fishing in a low scale working as a cooperative does. All non self-sufficient raw material or commoditie will be obtained from local fair trade.
2.- Cooking in a simple and basic way those ingredients to match with nutrition standarts depending on the needs of every collective.
3.- Serving in a kind and polite way in order to teach from the elder to the young. We want to create generous atmosphere where everyone wins.
Cooperative profits will be invested in learning and training feedback to spread cooperative principles the the society.
We hope our passion to build a better society will be a pleasent present to Prof. Muhammad Yunus 70th birthday.

Last week they founded Complementaria ♥2♥ as an answer to the lack of help from institutions in Mallorca, Spain. It`s a very interesting business model born from a simple thought: some companies are really in need of urgent help and others have more time and resources available than in bonanza times. Why not try and share them, and then ask for something (a marketing plan, a comms campaign, advice on where to open a new shop...) they need?
