Saskia Bruysten, Director of the Grameen Creative Lab, was yesterday part of a panel of jury who judged the top 10 voted social entrepreneurship initiatives submitted by students from Germany, Denmark, Great Britain and Hungary, as part of the "Act for Impct" competition run by Jacobs University in Bremen, in cooperation with the Vodafone Foundation.
The participating bachelor students had earlier attended a summer school at Jacobs University in Bremen in August this year, where they were given the challenge of identifying a social or environmental problem, and designing a solution to best fit those needs, while of course ensuring that their proposal would have a positive impact. After identifying a unique market need, the students then planned new business models and designed their implementation in teams of 2-4 people.
They then had only seven weeks to put their ideas into practice, and show the fruit of their labour.
