Nobel Peace Price Laureate and Managing Director of Grameen Bank Prof. Yunus and Hans Reitz, both founders of The Grameen Creative Lab, travelled to South Africa from 7th to 11th of July 2009: Prof. Yunus was invited to deliver the Seventh Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture. In a motivating speech he suggested to make South Africa the first country to eradicate poverty.
Other important stations of their trip in South Africa were:
- A dialogue between Prof. Yunus and bankers, business people as well as social entrepreneurs exchanging ideas about banking, microfinancing, microcredit and business.
- A meeting with Nobel Peace Price Laureate Nelson Mandela
- A lecture of Prof. Yunus at CIDA City Campus in Johannesburg
