The day started with a meeting and a youth dialogue with Benesse Corporation. About 120 junior and senior high school students and 9th graders eagerly listened to the speech of Prof. Yunus to learn more about social business in order to prepare their own newspaper articles, of which the best one will be published in a Japanese newspaper.

Later, Prof. Yunus and the Japanese clothing company Uniqlo held a signing ceremony and officially launched the Grameen Uniqlo joint venture, which will be based in Bangadesh. This joint venture will produce good quality clothing at a price, which will be affordable for the poor in order to protect them during winter and the rainy season.

Then, Prof. Yunus met with Rikkyo University, which is a private university in Tokyo, in order to discuss the important role universities will play in promoting social business globally.

Another great public symposium took place at the National Center for Global Health and Medicine (NCGM), one of the leading Japanese medical centers, where Prof. Yunus was speaking in front of many doctors and staff members of NCGM and The University of Tokyo Hospital about social business and healthcare. This was the final event of an exciting first day in Japan, with many more days and meetings to come.
